Let them eat the donuts while they sit on the floor.
Let them splash in the puddles, and let them open the door.
Let them sing loudly and stay up past their bedtime.
Let them play with the pots and pans, and make some homemade slime.
Don’t worry if they only eat pizza, or never do what they are told.
Don’t worry if they drink out of bottles until they are three years old.
Don’t worry if they are messy, or have boogers hanging from their nose.
Don’t worry if they want to run outside and get dirt between their toes.
Because,
They won’t be young forever, and they won’t always disobey.
But they will grow up so incredibly fast, that they will make you say,
‘I wish we could eat more donuts together, while we’re lying on the floor.
Stay up late and sing our favorite songs, make a band with pots, pans, spoons and more.
We could live our lives on pizza, and snuggle while you drink your bottles.
We could run outside in the mud, and laugh together as you toddle.
Where has the time gone? It seems as though just yesterday you fit perfectly in my lap.
Now here you are, a baby no longer. We wound up here without a map.
We had our highs and we had our lows, and we survived all of the bumps, bruises and cuts.
But, if I could go back and only change one thing, I would let you eat more donuts.’
